Doris received her Dental Hygiene license with a Bachelor of Science Degree from Wichita State University in Kansas. She has also held a license in Illinois, as well as presently in Texas.
She enjoys her hygiene career to the fullest! She likes to get to know patients and build long-term relationships and friendship, as she has with so many patients in this office. It’s exciting for her to see the practice growing and being so vibrant with new patients. Many new patients have been referred by happy members of the existing patient family. “There is nothing quite like the feeling of helping patients to have the experience of kind, gentle, excellent dental care!”
Outside of the practice, Doris enjoys her family, husband, Doug, her son and daughter and their great spouses and families. She has 5 wonderful grandchildren. She also enjoys her church family and has found missions there that are very fulfilling. Travel, friends, reading, and gardening are on her list of fun past times.
Shelby chose the dental field because she wanted to pursue a career that would allow me to help people all over the world. She is very passionate about mission work and has served overseas on mission trips since 2010. Her very first trip was where she learned how desperate the need was for oral health internationally, and it became her focus to help even in the smallest of ways.
Shelby eventually found a similar need exists right here in the states, so she decided to fully pursue dentistry and quickly fell in love with all the aspects of being a dental hygienist! She loves this office and working for Dr. Cox because here she is allowed to focus solely on her passion of serving and helping our patients.
Providing the best care for our patients is always our number one priority and she wouldn’t have it any other way! Aside from mission work some of her other hobbies include traveling, hiking, golf, fitness, baking, and of course being loud and proud Aggie! Gig em’.
Martha enjoys spending time being a sports mom to her two boys who play soccer and basketball. She enjoys traveling and going camping with her husband and children. She also enjoys being outside and swimming in her pool.
Her career in the dental field started out over thirty years ago beginning as an assistant for eleven years and then on to UTEP where she received her bachelors in science in dental hygiene. Shortly after becoming a hygienist, she missed her days as a dental assistant and decided to go back to assisting. She enjoys every day as much as the first day; helping patients and giving them a reason to smile gives her great joy.
She previously worked for Dr. Statz before Dr. Cox bought the practice, therefore she has an excellent relationship with a lot of patients here. Something you may not know about her is that she is left handed but plays most sports using both her left and right hands.
Laurel enjoys biking, cooking, hiking, reading, taking yoga classes, travelling, going out on the lake, and spending time with family and friends. Laurel has been in dentistry for two and a half years. She loves that dentistry is tactile and a way to care for people.
Laurel obtained her bachelors in communication design at Texas Tech and there after she received her hygiene license at Tyler Junior College. She has been with Cox Family Dentistry for about a year and a half now. She likes that we strive to provide the best in care and we value our relationships with our patients.
She enjoys learning new skills and taking CE classes to stay up-to-date with the latest technology in the hygiene field. Something you may not know about Laurel is she had a canvas stretching business at Canton 1st Monday several years ago, she had to learn about woodworking as well.
Lisa chose the dental field to obtain the same rewarding feeling of helping people that she watched her sister-in-law feel for years. She first began her career as a dental assistant in 2014. Eventually, she gravitated more towards the front of the office. She made the decision to stick with the front but to still obtain her dental assistant license, so she could help educate patients on treatment.
She has worked very hard to become the Practice Administrator. Her true passion is helping patients get the most from their dental insurance benefits. She loves working for Dr. Cox, appreciates the offices’ family oriented atmosphere, and has strived to make sure every patient has that experience, whether it be your first visit or tenth visit. Her co-workers as well as the patients have become her family.
Lisa is married with three children. She enjoys all kinds of sports. On the weekends, you can probably find her at a sporting or cheer event for her children. When she is not at a sporting event she is devoting her time to her new church home in Wylie. Something you may not know about Lisa is she hopes to someday open a boutique, where she can display her love for old rustic furniture, decorating, and art. Her husband was an airborne paratrooper for eight years where in that time she was a very proud Army wife. They have lived in several different states, North Carolina and Oklahoma just to name a couple. She watched her husband do two tours in Iraq and the toll it can take on someone; which is why she believes it is important to be very compassionate with all the people you meet.
Brianna spends most of her time with her husband, two children, and their two blue heelers, Jack and Luna. Her son is developing a love for baseball while her daughter plays flute in the band and is planning on joining FFA in high school. She enjoys finding new recipes to bake sweets for her family and friends. In addition, she loves to find new craft ideas that she can try when she has some free time. Her family has a deer lease out in West Texas where she enjoys spending time to get away from the city. And, she is currently learning how to bow hunt.
In the spring of 2020, she will have been in the dental field for one year. Her mom has been in the dental field since Brianna was in middle school and she has always enjoyed her time in this career. Brianna decided to go to dental assisting school to obtain her RDA license but before finishing school (and following in her mom’s footsteps with a squeamish stomach as well) she soon realized that the front office would be more suited for her as she almost passed out watching an extraction during her externship the last few weeks at school.
She enjoys getting to know each and every one of the offices’ patients as Patient Care Coordinator. She was happy to have found her dental home here and loves that with all of her co-workers there is a feeling of one big family!
